Do you have a story about an old car which has been a part of your family’s history? A story of a restoration, a rescue, an incredible find? I would love to hear about it.
Send me your story and your photos, I will compile them here, edit them if need be, and post them. These old cars are getting hard to come by and I want to record their history here, and possibly in a future book.
Larry Johansen’s 1934 Tudor – Hyrum, Utah
Larry Johansen contacted me to tell me his amazing story about his ’34 Tudor.
He had purchased the car at 15 years of age, driving it for just one year before upgrading to a 1937 Tudor.
The ’34 was sent to the dump, where it slowly deteriorated for 50 years.
In 2003, with the help of his son in law, Larry went back to the dump to rescue his ’34. After an extensive excavation (I can’t even believe he was allowed to do this!), the car was pulled from the rubble and Larry got to work.
He spent the next 12 years restoring it and Larry is back on the road in his ’34.
Read his story here.
